Following the announcement last September that Tingdene Boat Sales has been appointed the UK exclusive representative for DaVinci Yachts from the Netherlands, it launched a brand new DaVinci 30 at Thames & Kennet Marina last week, to mark the first of this highly attractive range to enter UK waters.
DaVinci Yachts produces three superbly designed and constructed open cockpit motor yachts from 9.6m-10.5m that brilliantly meet the current demand for a classic line combined with modern design and materials. The DaVinci 30, 32S and 35E are all equally at home on the river, or at sea where their diesel sterndrive powered planing hull designs enable fast passage making.
Responding to the requirements of the UK market, DaVinci is also now developing a 75hp diesel shaft drive version of the 30 with a skeg that fully protects the propeller – making this model eminently suitable for those that will spend most their time at slower speeds and prefer the feel of rudder steering when exploring inland waters.
All DaVincis are very well geared for day cruising with friends or more extended adventures as a couple or family.
The DaVinci 30 on display was purchased by first time boat buyers Jason and Belinda Powell, who will split their maiden season by cruising the Thames and exploring home waters on the Trent. In future years, they plan to go coastal and explore the Wash, the Norfolk Broads and the Solent.
“We wanted to use the boat from our riverside mooring, so we didn’t want a big cruiser,” Jason explains. “Our requirements were a stylish boat that could fit under the lowest of the local bridges, with plenty of outside entertaining space and comfortable sleeping accommodation for two. You can tailor a DaVinci exactly to your requirements and we enjoyed making specific choices for our desired wood and fabric finishes.”
“We love the boat,” Belinda confirms. “We saw it when it was 80 per cent finished at the factory, but the preview day of the Thames Used Boat Show was the first time we had seen it on the water – it’s exactly what we wanted.
DaVinci Yachts’ owner Erik van Veen (pictured right) had flown in specifically for the launch party, having worked closely with Jason and Belinda on their detail requirements. “We build DaVincis to order, nothing is held in stock. That way each one can be completely bespoke to requirements.
Neil Mallandain, Sales Director said: “The DaVinci range offers a level of quality hitherto unseen in the increasingly popular open cockpit motor yacht market. They are perfectly suited both for Britain’s rivers and wide beam waterways – on which Tingdene has an unrivalled sales network, as well as around the coast.
We already enjoy a very close working relationship with the craftsmen at DaVinci and look forward to seeing Jason and Belinda and other owners like them getting great pleasure from these bespoke cruisers, whether alongside or exploring a wide range of waters.”
